Objective

This magazine will create the desire to explore the story of whiskey. Reading about the evolving history, how whiskey can be enjoyed in more than just a drink and the beautiful sites of whiskey distilleries. Readers will enjoy recipes, learn about the flavor notes, distillation process, and find travel trips for historic and new distilleries around the world. Whiskey is a magazine that will interest even the non-whiskey drinker.

Concept

The concept behind Whiskey Magazine is “Why Whiskey?”. Why would someone that doesn’t enjoy whiskey ever choose to drink it? What does a new whiskey drinker need to know as their palate matures and they explore their whiskey options? What is the difference between whisky and whiskey?

Using these questions the fictitious Whiskey magazine was developed. It was important to include content that could entice novice and veteran whiskey drinkers. The bold type and warm colors elicit the feeling of old style whiskey barrels. The Glencairn glass shape and light sans-serif body copy is a nod to the modern approach.
