Objective
The objective of this project was two-fold. Firstly, to develop a surface pattern collection for the interior design market that included one statement and three to five coordinate patterns. The designs were to be created analog and then brought into the digital file, while still maintaining the original hand drawn feel.
Secondly, to create a catalog cover and multiple spreads to highlight the patterns and color options for the casual home.

Brief Narrative
Hydrangeas are beautiful, strong, pollinator attracting plants. They can be large and bulky but still have a soft, delicate and airy feel. They also enjoy a long transformation over the seasons from initial growth, bloom, changing of color and drying. The Hydrangea Collection was created to honor this life cycle. The focus is on a bunch of hydrangea blooms, but also has one little bee that is only seen upon closer inspection of the flowers. Using nature as the backbone to the design and the hydrangea as the primary focus, the bee is introduced in small doses. This is to provide a little treat to the viewer and a reminder that the bee is just as important as the flower.
The catalog for Ballard Design shows the collection in both indoor and outdoor settings. It is designed with a high end, yet obtainable feel that works in settings from cozy to formal.
