Objective
The Tallassee Machine Shop is a new business needing a visual identity. The shop does manual machining for small batches and prototype development. The owner requested the use of blue and various shapes of machining tools, suggesting the tools illustrate the letter forms.
The scope of this project involved creating a logo and stationery set including an invoice, as well as building signage and promotional products.
Concept Execution
The concept for Tallassee Machine Shop was precision. The wordmark is a simple typeface that represents the exactitude necessary in machining. Instead of using machine tools within the logo they supplement the visual identity. Several tools were illustrated with one, the machinist square, being utilized more predominately. This tool is frequently used throughout a machinist’s day and symbolizes the precision provided by Tallassee Machine Shop. Subtle illustration use met the owner’s objective while still providing a quality, timeless visual identity for a wide variety of collateral.
